Mike Ryon

       Mike Ryon grew up in New York and Chapel Hill and has been living abroad on and off for the last two decades. He studied architecture at North Carolina State University. Afterwards, Ryon served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then continued his studies at Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida where he graduated in Commercial Design and Illustration.

       Ryon is an accomplished artist in both watercolor and oils. His fluid style, coupled with astonishing patterns of color weave through is paintings, portraiture and corporate abstract paintings , rounding out an immense diversity of subjects, styles and interests.

       His works are drawing national attention. The list of accomplishments are quite notable starting with acceptance into an exhibition of the American Watercolor Society. His work was on display at the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue in NYC. He was also selected as a finalist in the Cambridge Art Association National Competition. He was one off nine watercolorists chosen out of 4600 entries. The judges for this competition were significant: Peter Rathbone, Senior Vice President of Sotheby’s in New York and Eliza Rathbone, Chief Curator at the phillips Collection in Washington, DC.

       Aside from a multitude of regional shows culminating in First Place winner and Purchase Award winner in the North Carolina Watercolor Society, he has been selected as a licensed artist for the famed Biltmore Estate.
