Henrietta Milan is one of America's finest Impressionists.  Her astounding oils on canvas are distinguished by their radiant color, subtle grace, gossamer figures and keen reverence for nature.

Milan was born in Chicago to parents of Czechoslovakian and Polish descent.  She was an accomplished athlete in her youth, becoming the American National Gymnastic Champion in 1959.  Milan's experience as a gymnast comes through clearly in her grasp of the poetic beauty of the human figure and of the nature around us.

Inspired by the work of great Impressionists such as Monet, Milan works extensively with palette knives to create texture and movement.  Flowers, gardens, children and still-life, as well as tranquil scenes of days long gone, are all favorite subjects.  her use of color ranges from soft, romantic pastels to vibrant, rich colors.

Unusual techniques seem to breathe life into her work.  When close to her paintings, viewers can see the splashes of color that complement the heavy texture she creates with her palette knives.  Standing away form her work evokes an entirely different sensation;  one of smoothly blended harmony, beauty and tranquility.  Like the work of Monet, the beautiful,  quiet contentment of her paintings truly moves the soul.

Henrietta's work is known worldwide with paintings in private collections through the US and Canada.  She also has many avid collectors in Indonesia, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, New Zealand and Japan.
