The Franz Collection is a premier line of porcelain found in Harrod's of London, Neiman Marcus and other prestigious retail
stores throughout the world.
The style blends oriental and European culture by combining the
organic lines of the Art Nouveau Period with a revival of ancient
Chinese porcelain production.
Since the
company started in 2002, Franz porcelain has already won acclaim
from museums as well as their peers. In 2002, Franz was voted "Best
in Gift" at the New York International Gift Fair. Previously,
European brands had dominated the market.
Designs are inspired by the love of nature. Production methods have
been enhanced by research into techniques of the ancient Chinese
dynasties who produced masterpieces of art. These processes were
first adapted by early European manufacturers such as Limoges and
Haviland, who
established themselves as major names in the porcelain business for
hundreds of years.
Franz
porcelain is created using the finest clay and glazes.
Each piece is
a work of art, using the talents of award winning artists from
around the world. The work of one primary designer has gained
attention from prestigious museums all over the world, including the
Victoria & Albert Museum in Great Britain , the German Staatliche Museen Kassel , and the Everson Museum of Art in New York.
Selected pieces are introduced as limited editions, typically in
quantities of 2000. However, even pieces which are not "limited
edition" are only produced for a short period of time and then discontinued.
This adds to the rareness and collectability of the porcelain
designs.
